Digital & Technology Strategy Formulation

The Client

The client is an ambitious real estate developer with a unique approach towards urban development. The client’s vision is to cultivate human potential through their mixed-use developments that are technologically advanced and digitally enabled.

The Project

The client’s flagship project, a 600,000 Sqm mixed use project, is the first one to bring their vision to reality. For that purpose, best of breed real estate design and real estate strategy firms have been appointed to design and define the project’s blueprint prior to launch.

Glint Role

Glint was appointed by the client to define the project’s digital & technology strategy that realizes the developer’s vision. The strategy was then translated into feasible services that define the daily experiences catering for all personas managing, living and interacting within the developed community. The role involved vendor engagement for solution scouting and budgetary purposes through various vendor-client workshops and through issuing an RFI. Glint provided the client with the business model and a five-year financial model to be integrated with the overall project financials.

Outcome

Glint helped the client find their niche and realize their vision through translating desired lifestyle into actual experiences and through designing the integration of real market solutions. The provided digital strategy designs ‘a day in the life of’ every single persona within the city, outlines concretely services and solutions and provides actual business models and budgets to account for in order to realize the outlined strategy.

Acquisition Strategy &
Turn Around Plan

The Client

The client is a European renowned investor and strategic shareholder in telecommunications and technology companies with roots in the industry dating back to 1997. The client is using its vast accumulated experience in launching, re-launching and expanding telecommunication networks to expand into other high-growth high-yield sectors and geographies. The client currently holds many leading companies under its worldwide umbrella spanning all sub-sectors of telecom services provision covering telecom infrastructure, wireless, internet, broad band, cloud computing, digital content and services.

The Project

The client is evaluating and pursuing the opportunity to lead a group of international investors aiming to acquire a major telecom operator in Latin America suffering from around $20 billion of bonds, bank debt and operating liabilities. The committed investment by the group of investors for this transaction is more than 1bil USD. In addition to the investment, the client would also act as the strategic investor in charge of turning around the operation through managing the company.

Glint Role

Support the client in assessing the acquisition opportunity through working closely with the financial advisors and other external consultants on developing and reviewing the overall business case, validating the underlying assumptions and formulating a new business strategy for the turnaround of the company along with an updated business plan. After submitting the proposal, Glint would support the client in fine tuning the plan and in the negotiation and presentation of the plan to the different stakeholders and concerned government entities.

Outcome

The client led the investment group and submitted an offer along with a turnaround plan to the concerned stakeholders and government entities. The offer was positively received and negotiations between the different stakeholders are ongoing.

Post-Merger Integration

The Client

The client is the leading player in the digital market and Internet services in Italy. The company is listed in the Italian stock exchange with the majority of stocks owned by a strategic investor and other investment funds. Resulting from the merger of the top Italian online service provider and the traditional directory business incumbent, the company owns and operates the most visited portals and the most widespread email service and they are also the market leader for directories in Italy delivering content and online services to millions of Italians each day. The company offers a wide range of digital solutions, from online advertising to web design and web marketing to boost the digital presence of thousands of Italian companies.

The Project

The shareholders of the company are looking for capturing the maximum value of the merger through an efficient and speedy post-merger integration process. Streamlining the operation, organization restructuring, introducing the maximum efficiency and growing the business organically as well as through M&A are the main pillars of the company new business plan.

Glint Role

The shareholders of the company appointed one of Glint’s partners to act as the non-executive Chairman of the company to oversee the integration process, manage the board meetings, provide leadership to the management and act as a liaison between the shareholders, the board and the management of the company.

Outcome

The company developed a new aggressive business plan and implemented a major organizational restructure. Distributing a mega dividend to the shareholders, as well as, relaunching the Investor relations function led to significant increase in the stock price.

Mobile Operation Launch

The Client

The client is the leading fixed and Internet telecom operator in Egypt aiming to become an integrated fixed and mobile service provider. The client acquired a mobile license and is working on a plan to start launching the converged F&M services.

The Project

The client contracted a major international consulting firm to support the launch of the 4G services. The project included multiple phases starting from the design phase to the launch phase.

Glint Role

The international consulting firm subcontracted Glint to support on the client’s engagement during the design phase. Glint’s team main focus was on the domestic and international wholesale tracks as well as supporting on the regulatory track.

Outcome

Glint support enabled the client to close several domestic wholesale and international roaming agreements on time to meet the overall launch program timeline.
